Weight loss diets

The Atkins’ Diet
Although it originated back in the 1960s, the atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systems over the last few years. Having many well known film stars amongst its supporters, it supposedly allows fat reduction whilst allowing foods that are normally considered bad for diets, for example beef and some dairy produce.
Unlike other diets, on the atkins diet you are supposed to eat fat and protein, it is carbohydrates that need to be avoided. It is referred to as a low carb/high protein, nutrition and weightloss system.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
On the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and, as a result, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a consequence, olive oil.

The Atkins’ Diet Theory
The controversial theory behind the popular atkins diet is that if we eat less carbs, our bodies will consume our fat and we will achieve weight loss

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a nutrition and weight loss system initially created by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an associated web site. The Zone diet isn’t expressly a weight reduction diet, however some people find that they reduce weight when following it.
The science claimed for the Zone Diet is that if you can gain control of the amount of insulin and glucogen (two hormones), then your body releases eicosanoids which, as a result puts one's body in a balanced state which is more wholesome than it normally is, which followers of the diet, refer to as '"he zone".
Sears claims that when your body is in this 'zone' it is much more efficient and, as a consequence, doesn't need to build up stores of fat.
The key process of the zone diet is to keep tight control over the exact ratio of carbs to proteins, and to take increased amounts of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils.

The Glycaemic Index Diet
The glycaemic index nutrition and weight loss system is based around the gi index, a list of types of food and a score representing the speed with which the energy in the food type gets transformed to sugar in your bloodstream. The claim is that slow acting foods (ie with a low Glycaemic index score), keep you satiated for longer and help to cut down on food without craving snacks all the time.
It's also very useful for folk with diabetes, as the low GI types of food are useful in preventing rises in blood sugar amount.

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
