Ingredients
1/2 cup butter
3 oz cream cheese
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup flour
1/8 tsp salt
6 tsp 100% fruit spread
1 eggs
1 tsp water, cold
Directions
Use various flavors of fruit spread.
Combine butter and cream cheese in large bowl; beat
until smooth and creamy. Blend in vanilla. Combine
flour and salt; gradually add to butter mixture,
mixing until mixture forms soft dough. Divide dough in
half; wrap each half in plastic wrap. Refrigerate
until firm.
Preheat oven to 375. Roll out half of dough on
lightly floured pastry cloth or board to 1/8"
thickness. Cut with top of glass or biscuit cutter
into 3" rounds. Spoon 1/2 ts fruit spread onto center
of each dough circle. Beat egg with water; lightly
brush onto edges of dough circles. Bring three edges
of dough up over fruit spread; pinch edges together to
seal. Place on ungreased cookie sheets; brush with
egg mixture. Pepeat with remaining dough and fruit
spread. Bake 12 minutes, until golden brown.
Let stand on cookie sheets 1 minute; transfer to wire
rack. Cool completely. Store in tightly covered

Cruciferous vegetables, Superfoods that also help your Weight loss (eg. Arugula, Celery, Tatsoi and Chinese cabbage) Altthough not always popular with children, these are packed with vitamins (including vitamin c and folate), minerals (eg. potassium and selenium), fibre, chlorophyll and antioxidents. Over and above their many beneficial effects, the nutrients in these are thought by doctors to reduce the risk of cancer. Foods rich in lycopene (includes apricots, red peppers and tomatoes) The nutrient lypcopene is a natural coloring agent and a member of the phytochemical group known as 'carotenids'. Lycopene is responsible for the red hue of many fruits and vegetables. Intrestingly, unlike most other nutritional compounds, this useful phytochemical not only survives being cooked, but is in fact strengthened by going through the cooking process. . Lycoprene's most interesting nutritional contribution is that it is an antioxidant and seems to be an asset in the battle to lower the probabilty of cancer. This useful phytochemical is the most powerful remover of singlet oxygen, which is correlated with skin aging. It's also thought to block the growth of diseases affecting arterial blood vessels. The Zone Diet The Zone diet is a weight loss program primarily devised by Barry Sears in a series of books and publications. The Zone diet is not exactly a weight reduction diet, nevertheless many 'zone dieters' discover that they really reduce a few pounds by following this system. The scientific theory behind the Zone Diet is that if one can manage to gain control of the levels of two key hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which, in turn puts your body in a balanced state which is much, much more healthy than other diets, which is known as the zone. Sears believes that when in the 'zone', your body is working at its best and, as a consequence, does not need to build up stores of fat. The key procedure of the diet is to maintain the precise ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to dose yourself with increased levels of Omega 3 fish oils. |
