Ingredients
3 cup uncooked brown rice
1 green pepper, chopped
1 red, yellow or orange pepper
1 chopped ( i use all
1 sometimes)
2 packs of dried shitake
1 mushrooms or 2 packs of
1 fresh
1 large onion thinly sliced
1 bunch scallions
1 garlic - fresh or dried (to
1 taste)
1 ginger - fresh or dried (to
1 taste)
1 lite teryaki sauce
1 lite soy sauce
1 rice wine
1 package fried rice seasoning
1 (mccormick or la choy.....)
Directions
Marinate Mushrooms: Cut mushrooms into thin strips and
add appx. 1/4 cup of Rice wine, teryaki, garlic and
ginger Let stand 1 hour to overnight.
Cook rice in rice cooker.
Heat non-stick skillet till very hot. Throw in veggies
and more diced fresh garlic, ginger and pepper.
(High heat with NO oil brings out flavors in veggies,
according to Chef Prudhomme)
Stir quickly, as they begin to become tender add rice
wine a little at a time, just to prevent
sticking/burning, not enough to make the veggies soggy.
Throw the cooked rice from the rice cooker into a big
bowl, throw in the veggies, toss around.
Add chopped scallions (uncooked, the heat from the
other stuff is enough).
Toss about to evenly distribute ingredients.
Add the Fried Rice Seasoning Packet, Toss and serve.

Superfoods containing lycopene (includes water melon, red bell peppers & baby jackfruit) Lycopene is a natural coloring agent and one of the carotenid family of phytochemicals. This chemical is behind the vivid red colour of many natural foods. Usefully, unlike most other nutritional compounds, it is not damaged if it is cooked, instead it is genuinely strengthened by being cooked. . Its most interesting nutritional contribution is that it behaves as an antioxidant and is believed to help to lower the risks of cancer. This useful phytochemical is the most powerful carotenoid quencher of singlet oxygen, which is connected with skin aging. It is also thought to hamper the development of atherosclerosis. The Zone Diet The Zone diet is a diet system initially invented by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an accompanying website. The Zone diet isn’t specifically a weight loss diet, nevertheless many followers believe that they manage to lose body weight by following it. The main theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you can limit the levels of two important hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then your body releases eicosanoids which, in turn puts the body in a state of balance that is an awful lot more healthy than normal, which, not surprisingly, is known as 'the zone'. Sears holds the theory that when in the 'zone', your body is perfectly balanced and, as a result, does not need to build up stores of fat. The most interesting technique of the zone diet is to control the exact ratio of carbs to proteins, and to take large amounts of Omega 3 and omega 6. |
