The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a diet initially devised by Barry Sears in a series of books. The Zone diet isn’t specifically a fat reduction diet, although many zone diet fans believe that they lose body weight by following this system. The main theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you control the secretion of the hormones 'insulin' and 'glucogen', then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which, in turn puts the body in a balanced state which is an awful lot more healthy than other diets, which followers of the diet, refer to as '"he zone". Sears believes that when your body is in this 'zone' it is much more efficient and, as a result, doesn't need to convert surplus energy to fat. The most valuable procedure of the zone diet is to monitor and control the ratio of carbs to proteins, and to ensure your diet has increased amounts of Omega 3 and omega 6. Healthy foods with carotenes (includes paprika, collard greens and tomato ketchup) These natural foods contain alpha-carotene and beta-carotene believed by nutritionalists to help in helping stop cancer, particularly those cancers involving the esophagus. Many also have a low calorie count, so make sure you add them to your weight loss regime. |
