The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet plan started by Miami, florida-area cardiologist arthur agatston which encourages that dieters should be eating "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Dr. agatston developed his nutritional system as an aid to patients with heart conditions, as a result of his detailed study of scientific data completed on other weight loss studies. Examples of good foods include, veal cutlets, turkey bacon, shellfish, ricotta cheese, peanuts, eggs and some vegatables, such as split peas, cabbage and spinach. The Glycaemic Index Diet The gi (or glycaemic index) weight loss program is reliant on the gi index, a list showing types of food and a score representing the ease that the energy in the food type gets changed to glucose in your body. The theory is that slow release types of food (ie those food types with a low Glycaemic score), suppress your appetite for longer and mean that you can consume less food without feeling you are missing out. It's also extremely effective for diabetes sufferers, as the low GI types of food are beneficial in preventing surges in blood glucose secretion. The brassica family, Healthy superfoods that aid Weight loss (includes Broccoli, Boiled potatoes, Mizuna and Horseradish) Altthough not always popular with children, these vegetables are packed with vitamins (including vitamin c and folate), minerals (eg. potassium and selenium), fibre, chlorophyll, antioxidents, isothiocyanates, and indole-3-carbinol. Over and above their numerous great health properties, the minerals and nutrients in these are thought by many to help reduce the cancer risk in those prone to it.. |
