Types of diet

The Atkins’ Diet
First invented by doctor atkins in the 1960s, the famous atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systms over the last few years. Having many well known film stars amongst its supporters, it allows fat reduction whilst still eating many of the foods you love, for example bacon and hard cheese.
With the atkins diet you eat protein and fat, avoiding carbohydrates almost completely. It is often referred to as a low carbohydrate/high protein, nutrition and weightloss system.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
Unlike other diets, on the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and, as a consequence, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a result, olive oil.

The Atkins’ Diet Theory
The controversial theory behind the famous atkins diet is that even though our bodies use both fats and carbs to change into glucose, it is the carbohydrates that are burned primarily. If we reduce your consumption of carbohydrates, our bodies will burn up the fat we have stored and we will lose weight. Although inviting, this theory is contentious, not all researchers are in agreement and some even feel it can be dangerous.

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet system created by Florida-based cardiologist arthur agatston which stresses that one should consume "good carbs" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Dr. agatston developed his system as an aid to patients with heart conditions, based on his detailed study of scientific studies on other weight loss regimes.
Approved foods include, broiled ham, turkey breast, oysters, mozzarella cheese, pistachio nuts, eggs and certain vegetables, like butter beans, celery and mushrooms.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
