Diet information

The Glycaemic Index Diet
The gi index diet is based around the gi index, a list showing foods and a score illustrating the rapidity that the energy in the food gets changed to sugar in your system. The claim is that slow release foods (ie those foods with a low Gi number), will keep you feeling full for longer and help you to reduce your intake of food without feeling you are missing out.
It's also very good for individuals with diabetes, as the low GI foods are helpful in preventing rises in blood glucose secretion.

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a nutrition and weight loss system primarily invented by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an associated web site. The Zone diet is not expressly a weight reduction diet, but many followers believe that they really manage to lose body weight by following it.
The science claimed for the Zone Diet is that if you limit the levels of the hormones 'insulin' and 'glucogen', then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which, in turn puts your body in a state of balance that is far more healthful than usual, which is known as the zone.
Sears believes that if you get into this 'zone', your metabolism is working at its most efficient and, as a result, doesn't build up fat.
The main process of the zone diet is to maintain the precise ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to take plenty of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils.

The Atkins’ Diet
Originating way back in the 1960s, the famous atkins diet is still one of the most popular diets today. Having many well known film stars amongst its supporters, it supposedly allows fat reduction whilst encouraging you to eat foods that are normally considered bad for diets, for example pork and egg and cheese.
With the atkins diet you are encouraged to eat meat and fat, it is carbohydrates that need to be avoided. Because of this, it is known as a high protein, low carb, diet.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
On the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and, as a result, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil.

The Atkins’ Diet Theory
The 'science' behind the famous atkins diet is that if we reduce your consumption of carbohydrates, our bodies will utilise our fat and we will become thinner

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
