The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a weight loss regime primarily detailed by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an accompanying website. The Zone diet is not distinctly a weight reduction diet, nevertheless many zone diet fans believe that they really seem to lose a few pounds when following it.
The science claimed for the Zone Diet is that if one can control the amount of insulin and glucogen (two hormones produced naturally by your body), then your body releases eicosanoids which puts the body in a state of equilibrium that is much, much more healthy than it normally is, known as the 'zone'.
Sears states that when in the 'zone', your body is working at its most efficient and, as a consequence, does not need to convert surplus energy to fat.
The most important procedure of the system is to maintain the ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to dose yourself with increased levels of Omega 3 fish oils.

The Atkins’ Diet
First invented by doctor atkins in the 1960s, the famous atkins diet is still widely used today. Although not accepted by all scientists, it supposedly allows fat reduction but still allows you to eat many foods that would not be part of a normal diet, like beef and some dairy produce.
With this diet you eat protein and fat, avoiding carbohydrates almost completely. It is referred to as a low carbohydrate/high protein, weight loss regime.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
Unlike other diets, with the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish & poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil.

Superfoods rich in flavonoids
(inlcudes lettuce, red apples, garden pea and coriander)

The compounds known as flavonoids discovered in these fruit, vegetables and pulses are believed to be good in fighting cancer.
Specialists who have been studying the nutritional effects of flavonoids believe that they could have many other health benefits, including, but not limited to, anti-candida and antiplatelet powers.
Most are also good for weight loss, so make sure you add them to your weight loss regime.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
