The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a weight loss regime primarily detailed by Barry Sears in a series of books. The Zone diet isn’t expressly a fat reduction diet, nevertheless many zone diet fans find that they actually reduce weight when following it. The main theory behind the Zone Diet is that if one can control the levels of insulin and glucogen (two hormones produced naturally by your body), then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which, in turn puts the body in a balanced state that is far more wholesome than usual, which, not surprisingly, is known as 'the zone'. Sears believes that when in the 'zone', your body is working at its most efficient and, as a consequence, does not build up fat. The most valuable technique of the diet is to keep tight control over the ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to dose yourself with large amounts of Omega 3 fish oils. The South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a diet created by Miami, florida-area cardiologist arthur agatston which stresses that dieters should be eating "good carbs" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Doctor agatston invented the south beach diet for people who have heart disease, based on his analysis of scientific research on other weight loss systems. Good foods include, lean beef, chicken breast, oysters, feta cheese, pistachios, lowfat or nonfat milk and certain vegetables, like butter beans, cabbage and snow peas. Foods containing carotenes (includes cilantro, kale and sweet potatoes) These amazing superfoods are rich in alpha-carotene and beta-carotene believed to help in cancer prevention, particularly of the esophagus and stomach. Many are also low in calories, so should be a part of every diet. |
