Flavonoid rich foods (inlcudes dark chocolate, apples, garden pea & dill) The large family of compounds known as flavonoids which are present in these types of food are thought by experts to have properties in helping to prevent cancer. Experts studying the nutritional effects of flavonoids believe that they may also have numerous benefits to our health, including, but not limited to, anti-candida and antiplatelet activities.. Most also have a low calorie count, so should be included in every diet system. Foods containing allyl sulfides ( includes garlic, chives and spring onions) The onion and garlic family of vegetables is rich in allyl sulphides, a chemical which experts believe might be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer. Although there is not enough, hard medical proof at hand, allyl sulphides are also believed to help with antiinflammatory effect, high blood pressure and diabetes. Foods containing allyl sulfides also help you lose weight, so you should add them to your weight loss program. The Zone Diet The Zone diet is a weight loss program primarily created by Barry Sears in a number of books and publications. The Zone diet is not particularly a fat reduction diet, however many people claim that they really seem to lose body weight by following the zone diet. The 'science' claimed for the Zone Diet is that if you control the secretion of insulin and glucogen (two hormones produced naturally by your body), then your body releases eicosanoids which, as a consequence puts your body in a balanced state that is a lot more healthful than normal, which is known as the zone. Sears believes that a body that is in 'the zone' is perfectly balanced and, because of this, doesn't need to convert surplus energy to fat. The most interesting process of the zone diet is to maintain the exact ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to dose yourself with large amounts of Omega 3 and omega 6. |
