Ingredients
2 lb boneless beef chuck steaks, well trimmed
=== MARINADE ===
1/3 cup red wine vinegar
1/3 cup water
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp minced thyme
1/2 tsp sugar
Salt, to taste
Freshly-ground black pepper, to taste
Directions
Combine all marinade ingredients in a large bowl. Add chuck steaks and let
marinade for 6 to 8 hours in the refrigerator.
Remove steaks from the marinade and reserve marinade.
Prepare an outdoor grill with an oiled rack set 6 inches from the coals.
On a gas grill, place the setting to medium. Grill 14 to 20 minutes for
rare, 20 minutes for medium, or 26 minutes for well done, brushing with
reserved marinade. Carve into thin slices.
This recipe yields 6 servings. Serving size: 3 to 4 ounces.

The Glycaemic Index Diet
The gi (or glycaemic index) diet system is reliant on the glycaemic index, a chart showing foods and a score illustrating the rapidity that the glucose of the food gets transformed to glucose in the dieters body. The believe is that slow release foods (ie those foods with a low Glycaemic index score), keep you satisfied for a longer period of time and help you to take in less food without feeling you are always hungry. It is also extremely beneficial for diabetes sufferers, as the low GI food types are useful in controlling surges in blood sugar levels. Foods containing allyl sulfides ( includes garlic, leeks and spring onions) The onion, leek and garlic family of foods is high in allyl sulphides, a chemical which experts believe could be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer. Even though there is not enough, scientific evidence obtainable, allyl sulfides are also thought by nutritionalists to help with blood circulation, sterilization and diabetes. Foods containing allyl sulfides are also good for weight loss, so should be a part of every diet. |
