The Recipe Instructions
 

 

Ingredients

2 cup low fat yogurt
1/2 tsp dried thyme leaves
1/2 tsp dried basil leaves
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp fresh ground pepper


Directions

Stir all ingredients together gently in a small bowl until blended.
Line a sieve with a double layer of cheesecloth or paper towels.
Place sieve over a bowl, allowing at least 2 inches between bottom of
sieve and bottom of bowl. Spoon yogurt mixture into sieve and place
bowl with sieve in refrigerator. Let yogurt mixture drain in
refrigerator about 4 hours for soft cheese or 8 hours for firmer
cheese. Yogurt can be stored covered up to 2 weeks. Serve instead of
sour cream on baked potatoes or as a spread on crackers. Makes about

Types of diet


The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet started by Cardiologist arthur agatston which encourages that one should consume "good carbs" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Agatston developed his system for people who have cardiac problems, as a result of his analysis of scientific data completed on other diets.
Examples of good foods include, broiled ham, turkey breast, shellfish, fat-free cheeses, peanut butter, nonfat milk and some vegatables, such as split peas, cucumbers and snow peas.


The Glycaemic Index Diet
The glycaemic index nutrition and weightloss system is reliant on the gi (or glycaemic index), a list showing foods and a score illustrating the rapidity that the glucose of the food type gets changed to glucose in your body. The believe is that slow release types of food (ie those foods with a low Glycaemic index score), suppress your appetite for longer and help to cut down on food without craving snacks all the time.
It's also extremely useful for individuals with diabetes, as the low GI types of food are useful in reducing surges in blood glucose amount.


The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a diet initially advocated by Barry Sears in a series of books and publications. The Zone diet is not exactly a weight reduction diet, however some people believe that they actually seem to lose a few pounds when following it.
The 'science' behind the Zone Diet is that if you manage to control the levels of insulin and glucogen (two hormones), then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which puts one's body in a state of equilibrium that is far more wholesome than normal, which, not surprisingly, is known as 'the zone'.
Sears states that if you get into this 'zone', your body is perfectly balanced and, as a result, does not build up layers of fat.
The most important procedure of the diet is to control the precise ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to make sure your diet has large amounts of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils.


The Atkins’ Diet
First invented by doctor atkins in the 1960s, the atkins diet achieved most of its fame during the last decade. Popular with many famous celebrities, it supposedly allows fat reduction whilst encouraging you to eat foods that are normally considered bad for diets, like beef and hard cheese.
Unlike other diets, on the atkins diet it is considered good to eat fat and protein, avoiding carbohydrates almost completely. Because of this, it is known as a low carbohydrate/high protein, nutrition system.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
