Foods containing carotenes
(includes carrots, mangos and sweet potatoes)
These colorful plants have high levels of carotenes (alpha and beta) believed by many play a key part in minimizing the chances of contracting, particularly cancers of the lungs. Many also help you lose weight, so make sure you add them to your diet.

Foods rich in flavonoids
(inlcudes dark chocolate, spinach, lima bean and cayenne)

The nutrients called 'flavonoids' which exist in these types of food are believed to be good in fighting cancer.
Specialists looking into the effects of flavonoids believe they may well also have numerous healthy properties, including, but not limited to, anti-candida and antiplatelet properties.
A good number are also good for weight loss, so should be included in your weight loss program.

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a weight loss regime primarily suggested by Barry Sears in a number of books and publications. The Zone diet isn’t distinctly a weight reduction diet, however many people believe that they lose body weight by following this system.
The science claimed for the Zone Diet is that if you control the amount of insulin and glucogen (two hormones), then your body releases eicosanoids which, as a result puts your body in a balanced state which is an awful lot more healthful than usual, this is referred to as 'the zone'.
Sears believes that a body that is in 'the zone' is working at its most efficient and, as a consequence, does not build up layers of fat.
The most important technique of the zone system is to maintain the ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to ensure you get high levels of Omega 3 and omega 6.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
