Diet typesThe Atkins’ Diet First invented by doctor atkins in the sixities, the atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systms over the last few years. Having many well known film stars amongst its supporters, it enables weight loss whilst encouraging you to eat many foods that are not normally available to dieters, like lamb and hard cheese. With this diet you are supposed to eat fat and protein, it is the carbs that are on the banned list. It is often referred to as a low carbohydrate/high protein, nutrition and weightloss system. With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour. On the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish and poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil. The Glycaemic Index Diet The gi (or glycaemic index) nutrition and weightloss system is reliant on the gi index, a list showing foods and a score illustrating the rapidity that the carbs in the food type gets changed to glucose in your system. The theory is that slow release types of food (ie those foods with a low Gi number), keep you satisfied for a longer period of time and help to cut down on food without being miserabl;e. It is also very good for diabetes sufferers, as the low GI types of food are useful in managing increases in blood sugar secretion. |
