Weight loss diets

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a weight loss system created by Dr. arthur agatston which encourages that dieters should eat "good carbs" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Dr. agatston developed his weight loss system for people who have heart disease, as a consequence of his analysis of scientific data on other dietary studies.
Good foods include, veal cutlets, turkey bacon, clams, ricotta cheese, pistachio nuts, lowfat or nonfat milk and some vegatables, like artichokes, cauliflower and water chestnuts.

The Atkins’ Diet
Originating way back in the 1960s, the atkins diet achieved most of its fame during the last decade. Although highly controversial, it claims to allow fat reduction but still allows you to eat foods that are normally considered bad for diets, for example beef and cheeses.
On the atkins diet you are supposed to eat fat and protein, it is the carbs that are on the banned list. It is often referred to as a low carbohydrate, high protein, nutrition and weightloss system.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
Unlike other diets, on the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a result, olive oil.

The Glycaemic Index Diet
The gi index nutrition and weightloss system is based around the gi index, a list of types of food and a score illustrating the rapidity with which the glucose in the food type gets changed to sugar in the dieters blood stream. The believe is that long-acting food types (ie those food types with a low Glycaemic score), will keep you feeling full for longer and help you to eat less food without feeling you are missing out.
It's also extremely beneficial for diabetes sufferers, as the low GI food types are beneficial in reducing surges in blood glucose secretion.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
