Healthy foods with carotenes (includes cilantro, kale and winter squash) These colorful foods contain carotenes (alpha and beta) believed by nutritionalists to play a role in minimizing the chances of contracting, particularly cancers of the lungs and stomach. A good number also have a low calorie count, so you should add them to your diet system. Foods containing allyl sulfides ( includes garlic, leeks and welsh onion) The onion and garlic family of foods is rich in allyl sulfides, a chemical which experts believe could be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer. Even though there is little scientific proof present, allyl sulphides are also thought by many experts to reduce problems with colds, high blood pressure and insomnia. Foods containing allyl sulfides are also good for weight loss, so should be included in your diet. The Atkins’ Diet First invented by doctor atkins in the 1960s, the popular atkins diet is still widely used today. Although not accepted by all scientists, it claims to allow fat reduction whilst allowing you to eat foods that are normally considered bad for diets, for example pork and hard cheese. On the atkins diet you are encouraged to eat meat and fat, it is carbohydrates that need to be avoided. It is often referred to as a low carbohydrate, high protein, weight loss program. With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, amongst them, cereals and pasta made from white flour. Unlike other diets, with the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil. |
