Weight loss systems

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet plan invented by Miami, florida-area cardiologist arthur agatston which encourages that one should eat "good carbs" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Agatston developed his nutritional system for his cardiac patients, as a result of his detailed study of scientific research completed on other dietary studies.
Approved foods include, canadian bacon, chicken breast, clams, fat-free cheeses, pistachios, eggs and some vegatables, such as artichokes, celery and sprouts.

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a diet primarily suggested by Barry Sears in a number of books and publications. The Zone diet isn’t specifically a fat reduction diet, nevertheless some people claim that they manage to lose body weight by following this system.
The main scientific theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you can control the levels of insulin and glucogen (two hormones produced naturally by your body), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which, in turn puts one's body in a state of balance which is an awful lot more wholesome than other diets, this is referred to as 'the zone'.
Sears alleges that a body that is in 'the zone' is perfectly balanced and, as a consequence, does not build up fat.
The key process of the zone system is to keep tight control over the precise ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to ensure your diet has increased levels of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils.

The Glycaemic Index Diet
The glycaemic index nutrition and weight loss system is based on the gi (or glycaemic index), a list showing food types and a score representing the speed that the carbohydrates of the food gets changed to glucose in the dieters body. The believe is that long-acting food types (ie those with a low Gi score), keep you feeling full longer and mean that you can eat less food without feeling you are always hungry.
It's also extremely good for folk with diabetes, as the low GI foods are beneficial in managing rises in blood glucose secretion.

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
