Lycopene is responsible for the red colour of some natural foods. Unlike many other nutritional compounds, lycopene does not degrade if cooked, but is truly increased in efficacy by going through the cooking process. . Its key value is that it serves as an antioxidant and seems to be an asset in the fight to lower the chances of cancer. This useful phytochemical is the most efficacious eliminator of singlet oxygen, which is associated with skin aging. It's also believed to slow down the growth of diseases affecting arterial blood vessels. The Atkins’ Diet First invented by doctor atkins in the sixities, the atkins diet achieved most of its fame during the last decade. Having many well known film stars amongst its supporters, it allows fat reduction whilst still eating many foods that are not normally available to dieters, for example lamb and some dairy produce. Unlike other diets, on the atkins diet it is considered good to eat fat and protein, it is the carbs that are on the banned list. It is referred to as a low carbohydrate/high protein, weight loss program. With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including, but not limited to, cereals and pasta made from white flour. On the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish and poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil. The Atkins’ Diet Theory The logic of the atkins diet is that even though our bodies use both fats and carbs to burn into carbs, it is the carbohydrates which are burned primarily. If we eat less carbohydrates, we will utilize the fat we already carry and we will become thinner. Although inviting, this theory is controversial, not all medical experts concur and a good number of think it is often risky. |
