Foods rich in lycopene (includes apricot, red bell peppers & tomato puree) The nutrient lypcopene is a natural coloring compound and member of the same group of phytochemicals as carotene. This chemical is behind the dark red colour of a good number of natural foods. Fortunately, unlike numerous other healthy agents, this useful phytochemical does not degrade if cooked, rather it is in fact made more effective by being heated. . Lycoprene's most interesting health contribution is that it is an antioxidant and seems to help to reduce the risks of contracting cancer. Lycopene is the strongest fighter of singlet oxygen, which is associated with aging of the skin. It is also thought by many researchers to impede the progression of diseases affecting arterial blood vessels. |
