The Glycaemic Index Diet
The gi index diet is reliant on the gi (or glycaemic index), a list showing types of food and a score representing the speed that the energy of the food gets transformed to glucose in the dieters body. The claim is that slow acting types of food (ie those foods with a low Gi number), keep you feeling full longer and help to take in less food without feeling hungry. It is also very efficient for diabetics, as the low GI foods are useful in reducing rises in blood sugar secretion. Foods containing allyl sulfides ( includes pickled shallots, chives and green onion) The onion, leek and garlic range of vegetables is high in allyl sulphides, a chemical which experts believe could be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer. Even though there is little scientific evidence at hand, allyl sulfides are also thought by many experts to help with blood circulation, arteriosclerosis and diabetes. Foods containing allyl sulfides are also low in calories, so should be included in every weight loss program. |
