Diet types

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a diet primarily advocated by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an associated web site. The Zone diet isn’t expressly a weight reduction diet, nevertheless many zone diet followers find that they really manage to lose a few pounds by following this system.
The theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you can limit the amount of two important hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which puts the body in a balanced state which is an awful lot more healthful than normal, this is referred to as 'the zone'.
Sears alleges that if you get into this 'zone', your metabolism is working at its best and, as a consequence, doesn't need to build up stores of fat.
The most important process of the system is to maintain the ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to ensure your diet has plenty of Omega 3 fish oils.

The Glycaemic Index Diet
The gi (or glycaemic index) diet is based on the gi index, a list of food types and an indicator of the speed with which the glucose in the food type gets transformed to glucose in your system. The believe is that long-acting food types (ie with a low Gi number), keep you feeling full longer and mean that you can cut down on food without being miserabl;e.
It is also very efficient for people with diabetes, as the low GI food types are beneficial in managing surges in blood glucose amount.

The Atkins’ Diet
Now nearly 5 decades old, the atkins diet is still one of the most popular diets today. Although not accepted by all scientists, it supposedly allows weight reduction whilst encouraging you to eat many foods that would not be part of a normal diet, eg bacon and butter.
On the atkins diet you are supposed to eat fat and protein, it is the carbs that are on the banned list. It is referred to as a high protein, low carb, nutrition and weight loss system.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
Unlike other diets, with the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil.

The Atkins’ Diet Theory
The controversial theory behind the atkins diet is that if we cut down on carbohydrates, we will use the fat we already carry and we will become thinner

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
