The Glycaemic Index Diet
The gi (or glycaemic index) weight loss regime is based around the gi (or glycaemic index), a chart showing food types and an indicator of the speed with which the energy of the food gets transformed to glucose in your system. The believe is that long-acting foods (ie those with a low Glycaemic index score), suppress your appetite for longer and help to take in less food without feeling you are missing out.
It's also extremely useful for diabetics, as the low GI types of food are beneficial in managing rises in glucose secretion.

The low calorie diet

Rather obviously, the low calorie diet depends on the fact that if you plan to lose weight, it is important to take in less calories than you need for exercise.

Definition of a calorie?
A calorie is a unit of measurement for energy. The 'calorie' is the amount of heat required to raise 1 kilogram of water 1 degree centigrade. If a food type contains more calories, then it will provide your body with more energy to use when your body burns it.

Low-cal food types include boiled potatoes, radishes, apricots, ground turkey, and bamboo shoots.

Foods containing allyl sulfides
( includes pickled shallots, white onions and green onion)

The onion family of vegetables is high in allyl sulfides, a chemical which experts believe may be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer.
Although there is not enough, real proof obtainable, allyl sulfides are also thought by many experts to help with antiinflammatory effect, high blood pressure and fatigue.

Foods containing allyl sulfides are low in calories, so should be included in your diet.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
