Ingredients
2 cup wholewheat flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
2 cup natural bran
3 tsp ground ginger, or to taste
1 tsp mixed spice (allspice?)
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/3 cup margarine
6 tbsp gran. sugar-free sweetener
1 egg, beaten
3 tbsp orange juice
1 tsp margarine to grease
Directions
Heat oven to 350 F. Mix flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda,
bran and spices together, then rub in margarine until the mixture
resembles fine breadcrumbs.
Stir the sweetener into the egg and orange juice and beat into the
flour mixture. Knead well, and roll out thinly on floured board.
Using a cutter, cut into gingerbread men shapes (or other shapes) and
place on greased cookie sheets.
Bake for 15-20 min or until crisp and lightly browned. Cool on a wire
tray and store in an airtight container.
TOTAL RECIPE: 1690 cal, 160 g (16 units) carbohydrate, 63 g fiber,
47 g protein, 100 g fat.

The low-cal diet
As most people know, low calorie diet depends on the fact that if you want to get rid of some fat, the most important step is to take in less calories than you use. What is a calorie? A calorie is a unit of measurement for energy. A food calorie is the the amount of energy required to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water by 1 degree centigrade at atmospheric pressure. If a meal contains more calories, then it will turn into more energy when consumed. Low-cal foods include boiled potatoes, mushrooms, grapefruit, canadian bacon, and bamboo shoots. Foods rich in lycopene (includes apricots, red peppers & tomato) The phytochemical lycopene is a non-synthetic coloring compound and part of the same group of phytochemicals as carotene. This chemical is the reason for the dark red colour of a good number of foods. Intrestingly, unlike numerous healthy agents, it is not damaged during the cooking process, but is in actuality enhanced by going through the cooking process. . Lycoprene's key value is that it works as an antioxidant and is thought to help to reduce the probabilty of cancer. Lycopene is the strongest fighter of singlet oxygen, which is connected with aging of the skin. It's also believed to curtail the development of atherosclerosis. |
