The Glycaemic Index Diet
The gi index weight loss regime is linked to the gi (or glycaemic index), a list showing types of food and a score representing the speed that the glucose in the food gets transformed to glucose in your body. The theory is that long-acting types of food (ie those food types with a low Glycaemic score), keep you feeling full longer and help you to injest less food without craving snacks all the time. It is also extremeley useful for diabetics, as the low GI types of food are helpful in controlling rises in blood glucose levels. Flavonoid rich foods (inlcudes lettuce, asparagus, scarlet runner bean and peppermint) The compounds known as flavonoids discovered in these natural foods show promise in preventing cancer. Specialists researching the properties of flavonoids believe they might also have numerous other healthy properties, amongst them, antiviral and anti-platelet powers. A good number are low in calories, so should be included in every diet system. |
