The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a diet system first devised by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an accompanying website. The Zone diet isn’t expressly a weight loss diet, but many followers find that they seem to lose weight when following it.
The supposed science behind the Zone Diet is that if one can manage to limit the levels of insulin and glucogen (both hormones), then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which, as a consequence puts the body in a state of balance that is a lot more wholesome than other diets, which followers of the diet, refer to as '"he zone".
Sears holds the theory that if you get into this 'zone', your body is perfectly balanced and, as a consequence, does not convert energy to unsightly fat.
The most important technique of the system is to monitor and control the ratio of carbs to proteins, and to make sure your diet has increased levels of Omega 3 and omega 6.

The Atkins’ Diet
First invented by doctor atkins in the sixities, the atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systms over the last few years. Although highly controversial, it enables weight reduction but still allows you to eat foods that are normally considered bad for diets, for example meat and some dairy produce.
Unlike other diets, with the atkins diet you eat protein and fat, it is the carbs that must be avoided. It is referred to as a low carb/high protein, diet.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including, but not limited to, cereals and pasta made from white flour.
With the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish & poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil.

Lycopene rich foods
(includes apricots, papaya & spiny bitter gourd)

Lycopene is a natural chemical compound and part of the phytochemical group known as 'carotenids'. It is accountable for the dark red hue of quite a few fruit and vegetables.

Fortunately, unlike many vitamins, lycopene is not damaged if it is cooked, rather it is in fact strengthened by cooking.

. Lycoprene's most interesting advantage is that it acts as an antioxidant and appears to be an asset in the fight to lower the probabilty of contracting cancer.

It is the most potent quencher of singlet oxygen, which is associated with aging of the skin. It's also believed to block the progression of atherosclerosis.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
