Weight loss diets

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a nutrition system primarily advocated by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an associated web site. The Zone diet isn’t expressly a fat reduction diet, but some people find that they really lose a few pounds when following it.
The main theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you can gain control of the levels of two key hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which, as a result puts one's body in a balanced state that is a lot more wholesome than other diets, this is referred to as 'the zone'.
Sears believes that if you get into this 'zone', your body is much more efficient and, because of this, doesn't build up fat.
The key procedure of the diet is to control the precise ratio of carbs to proteins, and to ensure your diet has plenty of Omega 3 and omega 6.

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet started by Miami, florida-area cardiologist arthur agatston which emphasizes that one should eat "good carbs" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Doctor agatston invented his weight loss system as an aid to patients with heart conditions, based on his detailed analysis of scientific studies on other dietary studies.
Approved foods include, lean cuts of beef, skinless poultry, fish and shellfish, ricotta cheese, pistachio nuts, lowfat yoghurt and some vegatables, such as asparagus, cucumbers and turnips.

The Atkins’ Diet
Originating way back in the 1960s, the atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systms over the last few years. Although highly controversial, it supposedly allows weight loss but still allows you to eat many of the foods you love, such as beef and butter.
With the atkins diet you are supposed to eat fat and protein, it is the carbs that are on the banned list. It is referred to as a low carbohydrate/high protein, diet.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
On the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are still nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and, as a consequence, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a consequence, olive oil.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
