16 Red lettuce leaves
8 Watermelon slices --
1/4 "thick
8 Cantaloupe slices --
1/4 "thick
4 Kiwis -- peeled and sliced
3 Oranges; peeled --

8 Apples -- center core
: removed
8 Scoops sherbet (1/3 c each)
8 sm Bunches grapes
8 Fresh strawberries --
: sliced
: HONEY-LIME DRESSING-----
8 oz Low-fat plain yogurt
2 TB Honey
2 ts Lime juice
: pn ginger
Place red lettuce leaves on individual salad plates and arrange the
following in a pinwheel pattern; watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, diwi. In
the center of the pinwheel place cored apple. Place sherbet scoop on apple.
Put grapes beside the apple. Top with Honey-Lime Dressing (recipe follows)
and garnish with sliced strawberries. Honey-Lime Dressing: Combine yogurt
with honey, lime juice and ginger. Whip and chill. Makes 1 cup; 1 serving 2
Tablespoons. Exchange Pattern for Salad and Dressing Per Serving: 435 cals,

Diet typesThe South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a weight loss system created by Miami-based cardiologist arthur agatston which encourages that dieters should eat "good carbs" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Agatston developed his weight loss system for his cardiac patients, as a consequence of his detailed study of scientific studies completed on other nutritional studies. Good foods include, veal cutlets, turkey breast, prawns, feta cheese, pecan halves, lowfat milk and some vegatables, like asparagus, cauliflower and snow peas. The Atkins’ Diet Developed by dr. robert atkins in the 1960s, the popular atkins diet is still one of the most popular diets today. Having many well known film stars amongst its supporters, it supposedly allows weight reduction whilst allowing you to eat many foods that are not normally available to dieters, for example fatty meat and eggs. On the atkins diet you are supposed to eat fat and protein, avoiding carbohydrates almost completely. It is referred to as a low carbohydrate/high protein, nutrition and weight loss system. With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour. Unlike other diets, on the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are still nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish and poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a consequence, olive oil. |
