16 Red lettuce leaves
8 Watermelon slices --
1/4 "thick
8 Cantaloupe slices --
1/4 "thick
4 Kiwis -- peeled and sliced
3 Oranges; peeled --

8 Apples -- center core
: removed
8 Scoops sherbet (1/3 c each)
8 sm Bunches grapes
8 Fresh strawberries --
: sliced
: HONEY-LIME DRESSING-----
8 oz Low-fat plain yogurt
2 TB Honey
2 ts Lime juice
: pn ginger
Place red lettuce leaves on individual salad plates and arrange the
following in a pinwheel pattern; watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, diwi. In
the center of the pinwheel place cored apple. Place sherbet scoop on apple.
Put grapes beside the apple. Top with Honey-Lime Dressing (recipe follows)
and garnish with sliced strawberries. Honey-Lime Dressing: Combine yogurt
with honey, lime juice and ginger. Whip and chill. Makes 1 cup; 1 serving 2
Tablespoons. Exchange Pattern for Salad and Dressing Per Serving: 435 cals,

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a weight loss program first created by Barry Sears in a series of books and publications. The Zone diet is not particularly a weight loss diet, nevertheless many zone diet fans believe that they manage to lose a few pounds when following it. The main theory of the Zone Diet is that if you manage to limit the levels of insulin and glucogen (two hormones), then your body releases eicosanoids which, as a result puts the body in a state of equilibrium which is much more healthful than it normally is, which, not surprisingly, is known as 'the zone'. Sears claims that a body that is in 'the zone' is much more efficient and, because of this, doesn't build up fat. The most interesting procedure of the system is to keep tight control over the exact ratio of carbs to proteins, and to dose yourself with increased levels of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils. The low-cal diet As most people know, the low calorie diet depends on the fact that if you plan to diet successfully, the most important step is to injest less calories than your body requires. The calorie defined? The calorie is the unit used for measuring the amount of energy in food. The food calorie is the amount of heat required to raise 1 kilogram of water 1 degree centigrade. If a food has higher calories, then it will provide your body with more energy to use when your body converts it. Low-cal foods include lettuce, tomatoes, grapefruit, low fat ham, and white eggs. Carotenoid foods (includes carrots, kale and tomato ketchup) These amazing vegetables and fruits have high levels of the carotenoids believed by scientists play a key part in cancer prevention, specifically of the the esophagus and stomach. A good number also help you lose weight, so should be included in every weight loss program. |
