Foods containing allyl sulfides
( includes eschalot, leeks and green onion) The onion and garlic range of vegetables is rich in allyl sulphides, a chemical which experts believe could be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer. Although there is insufficient definitive proof available, allyl sulfides are also thought by nutritionalists to reduce the symptoms of colds, high blood pressure and fatigue. Foods containing allyl sulfides are low in calories, so make sure you add them to your weight loss regime. The South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a diet started by Dr. arthur agatston, a cardiologist from miami, usa, which emphasizes that dieters should eat "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Dr. agatston invented this diet for people who have heart disease, based on his detailed analysis of scientific research on other dietary studies. Approved foods include, broiled ham, turkey breast, fish, feta cheese, almonds, nonfat milk and certain vegetables, like artichokes, cucumbers and sprouts. |
