The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a weight loss program initially advocated by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an associated website. The Zone diet is not exactly a weight reduction diet, but some people believe that they really lose a few pounds by following this system. The science behind the Zone Diet is that if one can limit the levels of insulin and glucogen (two hormones produced naturally by your body), then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which, in turn puts the body in a balanced state that is more wholesome than usual, which is known as the zone. Sears holds the theory that if you get into this 'zone', your metabolism is much more efficient and, as a result, doesn't need to convert surplus energy to fat. The most valuable method of the system is to control the ratio of carbs to proteins, and to make sure your diet has increased amounts of Omega 3 fish oils. The South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a diet plan started by Dr. arthur agatston which encourages that one should eat "good carbs" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Agatston invented his system as an aid to patients with heart conditions, as a result of his detailed analysis of scientific data on other weight loss regimes. Examples of good foods include, lean beef, turkey bacon, oysters, feta cheese, peanut butter, eggs and certain vegetables, like lentils, cucumbers and snow peas. Flavonoid superfoods (inlcudes dark chocolate, apples, soya beans & thyme) The nutrients known as flavonoids discovered in these types of food are believed to be helpful as cancer fighters. Nutritionalists researching the medical effects of flavonoids believe that they may well have many other healthy properties, amongst them, anti-viral and anti-inflammatory properties. A good number are also good for weight loss, so you should add them to your diet. |
