Weight loss diets

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet plan created by Miami-based cardiologist arthur agatston which stresses that dieters should eat "good carbs" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Dr. agatston developed his system for people who have cardiac problems, as a result of his detailed study of scientific studies on other weight loss regimes.
Approved foods include, broiled ham, turkey breast, shellfish, ricotta cheese, pistachio nuts, nonfat yoghurt and certain vegetables, such as butter beans, cauliflower and spinach.

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a nutrition and weightloss system first detailed by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an accompanying website. The Zone diet isn’t distinctly a fat reduction diet, but many 'zone dieters' find that they lose a few pounds by following it.
The science behind the Zone Diet is that if one can gain control of the amount of two key hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which, in turn puts your body in a state of balance that is an awful lot more healthy than other diets, which, not surprisingly, is known as 'the zone'.
Sears alleges that when in the 'zone', your body is working at its best and, as a consequence, does not need to convert surplus energy to fat.
The key process of the system is to maintain the ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to ensure your diet has large amounts of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils.

The Glycaemic Index Diet
The glycaemic index nutrition and weight loss system is based around the glycaemic index, a list of types of food and a score representing the speed with which the glucose and energy of the food gets converted to glucose in the dieters body. The believe is that long-acting types of food (ie with a low Glycaemic index score), will keep you feeling full for longer and help to reduce your consumption of food without feeling you are always hungry.
It is also very efficient for diabetes sufferers, as the low GI foods are beneficial in managing surges in blood glucose amount.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
