The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet system invented by Miami-based cardiologist arthur agatston which stresses the consumption of "good carbs" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Agatston invented his system as an aid to patients with heart conditions, as a result of his detailed analysis of scientific data completed on other weight loss studies. Examples of good foods include, lean cuts of beef, skinless poultry, prawns, fat free cheese, almonds, lowfat or nonfat milk and certain vegetables, such as green beans, eggplant and sprouts. The Zone Diet The Zone diet is a diet system initially created by Barry Sears in a series of books. The Zone diet isn’t exactly a weight loss diet, but many zone diet fans claim that they lose body weight by following the zone diet. The scientific theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you control the secretion of two important hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which, in turn puts one's body in a state of balance that is a lot more healthful than usual, which followers of the diet, refer to as '"he zone". Sears claims that a body that is in 'the zone' is perfectly balanced and, as a result, doesn't build up fat. The most interesting method of the system is to maintain the precise ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to ensure you get increased amounts of Omega 3 and omega 6. Superfoods containing carotenes (includes carrots, collard greens and tomato ketchup) These orange and green vegetables and fruits have high levels of carotenes (alpha and beta) believed by experts play a key role in minimising the risk of cancer, spefically cancer of the esophagus and stomach. The majority of these are also low in calories, so you should add them to your diet. |
