The Recipe Instructions
 

 

Ingredients

1/2 cup dates, pitted
1/2 cup raisins, dark or golden
2 tbsp cocoa -or- carob powder
1/2 cup walnuts
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
1 walnuts, ground


Directions

Grind together dates, raisins, cocoa (or carob
powder), walnuts and sunflower seeds in a food
processor or meat grinder.
Press the mixture into 24 small balls. Roll in the
ground nuts. Store in an airtight container.
Serves 12.

Diet types


The Glycaemic Index Diet
The glycaemic index diet is reliant on the gi (or glycaemic index), a chart showing types of food and an indicator of the speed with which the glucose and energy in the food type gets transformed to sugar in the dieters body. The claim is that slow release food types (ie those foods with a low Glycaemic score), keep you satisfied for a longer period of time and mean that you can reduce your intake of food without feeling hungry.
It is also very efficient for diabetes sufferers, as the low GI types of food are useful in controlling increases in glucose amount.


The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a nutrition and weight loss system primarily suggested by Barry Sears in a series of books. The Zone diet isn’t expressly a fat reduction diet, although some people believe that they really seem to lose weight when following it.
The main theory of the Zone Diet is that if one can manage to gain control of the amount of insulin and glucogen (two hormones), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which puts one's body in a state of balance that is far more wholesome than normal, which, not surprisingly, is known as 'the zone'.
Sears claims that when your body is in this 'zone' it is much more efficient and, because of this, doesn't build up layers of fat.
The key technique of the diet is to keep tight control over the ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to ensure you get large amounts of Omega 3 and omega 6.
