Weight loss systemsThe Zone Diet The Zone diet is a nutrition and weight loss system initially invented by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an associated web site. The Zone diet is not specifically a fat reduction diet, although many followers claim that they seem to lose a few pounds by following it. The theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you limit the levels of the hormones 'insulin' and 'glucogen', then your body releases eicosanoids which, as a result puts your body in a state of equilibrium that is much, much more healthy than usual, which followers of the diet, refer to as '"he zone". Sears states that when in the 'zone', your body is working at its most efficient and, as a result, doesn't need to build up stores of fat. The most important process of the zone system is to control the exact ratio of carbs to proteins, and to ensure you get increased levels of Omega 3 fish oils. The Glycaemic Index Diet The gi (or glycaemic index) nutrition and weight loss system is linked to the gi (or glycaemic index), a list of food types and a score illustrating the rapidity with which the glucose of the food type gets converted to sugar in your blood stream. The believe is that slow release food types (ie those with a low Glycaemic score), keep you feeling full longer and mean that you can eat less food without craving snacks all the time. It is also extremely useful for diabetes sufferers, as the low GI types of food are useful in preventing rises in blood glucose amount. |
