Weight loss systems

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a nutrition and weightloss system initially suggested by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an associated web site. The Zone diet isn’t specifically a weight reduction diet, nevertheless many zone diet fans find that they actually manage to lose weight by following it.
The science claimed for the Zone Diet is that if one can control the amount of insulin and glucogen (two hormones produced naturally by your body), then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which, as a consequence puts your body in a state of equilibrium which is far more healthy than other diets, which, not surprisingly, is known as 'the zone'.
Sears believes that when in the 'zone', your body is perfectly balanced and, as a result, does not convert energy to unsightly fat.
The main technique of the system is to control the precise ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to ensure you get high levels of Omega 3 and omega 6.

The Atkins’ Diet
Developed by dr. robert atkins in the 1960s, the atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systms over the last few years. Although not accepted by all scientists, it supposedly allows weight loss whilst encouraging you to eat foods that are normally considered bad for diets, such as lamb and egg and cheese.
Unlike other diets, with the atkins diet you are supposed to eat fat and protein, it is the carbs that must be avoided. It is referred to as a low carbohydrate, high protein, nutrition and weightloss system.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
Unlike other diets, on the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish and, as a result, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a consequence, olive oil.

The Atkins’ Diet Theory
The logic of the atkins diet is that if we reduce your consumption of carbs, our bodies will use up our stored fat and we will achieve weight loss

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet plan created by Miami-based cardiologist arthur agatston which emphasizes the consumption of "good carbs" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Dr. agatston invented his system as an aid to patients with heart conditions, as a consequence of his analysis of scientific studies completed on other weight loss systems.
Good foods include, veal cutlets, turkey breast, clams, parmesan cheese, pecan halves, lowfat yoghurt and some vegatables, such as black beans, cauliflower and mushrooms.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
