Weight loss diets

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a nutrition system initially devised by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an associated website. The Zone diet is not distinctly a weight loss diet, however many people believe that they really reduce weight by following it.
The supposed science behind the Zone Diet is that if you can control the secretion of insulin and glucogen (two hormones), then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which, as a consequence puts the body in a state of balance that is far more healthy than normal, which followers of the diet, refer to as '"he zone".
Sears holds the theory that a body that is in 'the zone' is working at its most efficient and, because of this, does not need to build up stores of fat.
The key technique of the diet is to maintain the precise ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to ensure your diet has large amounts of Omega 3 fish oils.

The Atkins’ Diet
First invented by doctor atkins in the 1960s, the atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systms over the last few years. Having many well known film stars amongst its supporters, it enables weight reduction whilst still eating many foods that are not normally available to dieters, for example meat and some dairy produce.
Unlike other diets, with the atkins diet it is considered good to eat fat and protein, it is carbohydrates that need to be avoided. Because of this, it is known as a low carbohydrate, high protein, diet.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
With the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish and, as a consequence, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a result, olive oil.

The Atkins’ Diet Theory
The 'science' behind the famous atkins diet is that if we cut down on carbohydrates, we will utilise the fat we have stored and we will reduce weight

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet started by Miami-based cardiologist arthur agatston which emphasizes that one should consume "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Dr. agatston invented the south beach diet as an aid to patients with heart conditions, based on his analysis of scientific studies completed on other weight loss regimes.
Approved foods include, lean beef, turkey bacon, prawns, fat free cheese, pistachio nuts, eggs and some vegatables, like black beans, lettuce and water chestnuts.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
