Although there is as yet, not enough real proof obtainable, allyl sulfides are also believed to reduce the symptoms of antiinflammatory effect, sterilization and insomnia. Foods containing allyl sulfides are also low in calories, so should be included in every diet. Super foods containing lycopene (includes melon, papaya and spiny bitter gourd) The phytochemical lycopene is a natural coloring compound and one of the carotenid family of phytochemicals. It is responsible for the vivid red hue of many natural foods. Fortunately, unlike most other nutritional compounds, it is not damaged if it is cooked, instead it is actually increased in efficacy by being heated. . Its most valuable theraputic value is that it is an antioxidant and appears to help lower the chances of developing cancer. Lycopene is the most effective quencher of singlet oxygen, which is associated with aging of the skin. It is also thought by nutritionalists to impede the development of atherosclerosis. |
