The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a weight loss system invented by Dr. arthur agatston, a cardiologist from miami, usa, which stresses that dieters should eat "good carbs" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Agatston invented the south beach diet as an aid to patients with heart conditions, based on his detailed study of scientific studies on other weight loss regimes.
"good" foods include, veal cutlets, chicken breast, shellfish, mozzarella cheese, peanuts, eggs and some vegatables, such as artichokes, celery and water chestnuts.

The Atkins’ Diet
Originating way back in the 1960s, the atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systms over the last few years. Although not accepted by all scientists, it allows weight loss whilst encouraging you to eat foods that are normally considered bad for diets, like beef and butter.
With the atkins diet it is considered good to eat fat and protein, avoiding carbohydrates almost completely. It is referred to as a low carbohydrate, high protein, diet.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including, but not limited to, cereals and pasta made from white flour.
Unlike other diets, on the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are still nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish & poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter & olive oil.

The Atkins’ Diet Theory
The 'science' behind the popular atkins diet is that even though our bodies use both fats and carbs to burn into carbs, it is the carbohydrates that are burned first. If we consume less carbs, we will consume our stored fat and we will lose weight. This is the bit that is contentious, not all researchers accept this as true and quite a few hold that it is often dangerous.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
