The Glycaemic Index Diet
The glycaemic index weight loss regime is reliant on the gi index, a list of foods and an indicator of the ease with which the carbohydrates in the food type gets transformed to sugar in the dieters bloodstream. The believe is that slow acting types of food (ie those with a low Gi score), will keep you feeling full for longer and mean that you can consume less food without feeling hungry.
It's also extremely good for folk with diabetes, as the low GI types of food are useful in managing increases in glucose secretion.

The low-cal diet

As most people know, low calorie diet depends on the fact that if you plan to achieve weight loss, the important thing to injest less calories than you use.

So what is a calorie?
The calorie is a unit for measuring food's ability to produce heat and energy. A 'calorie' is the amount of heat required to raise 1 kilogram of water 1 degree centigrade. If a food type contains more calories, then it will will give you more energy when consumed.

Examples of low calorie foods include cabbage, tomato, grapefruit, low fat hot-dogs, and white eggs.

Foods containing allyl sulfides
( includes pickled shallots, white onions and green onion)

The onion family is rich in allyl sulphides, a chemical which experts believe might be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer.
Even though there is little hard medical proof obtainable, allyl sulphides are also believed to aid in colds, arteriosclerosis and physical exhaustion.

Foods containing allyl sulfides are also good for weight loss, so should be a part of every diet.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
