The Glycaemic Index Diet
The glycaemic index weight loss program is based on the glycaemic index, a list showing food types and an indicator of the speed that the glucose of the food type gets transformed to glucose in your blood stream. The South Beach diet is a weight loss system created by Miami-based cardiologist arthur agatston which stresses the consumption of "good carbs" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Dr. agatston invented this diet as an aid to patients with heart conditions, as a result of his analysis of scientific studies completed on other nutritional studies.
Good foods include, lean beef, chicken breast, shellfish, low or fat free cheeses, pistachios, lowfat milk and certain vegetables, like lentils, cucumbers and mushrooms.

The nutrient lypcopene is a naturally occurring chemical compound and part of the phytochemical group known as 'carotenids'. This chemical is the agent responsible for the vivid red colour of many fruit, vegetables and pulses.

Intrestingly, unlike numerous nutrients, this useful phytochemical is not damaged during the cooking process, but is truly strengthened by going through the cooking process.

. Its most important value is that it behaves as an antioxidant and seems to be of use in the battle to lower the risks of developing cancer.

Lycopene is the most potent fighter of singlet oxygen, which is correlated with aging of the skin. It's also thought by many researchers to prevent the growth of atherosclerosis.
