Ingredients
1 non-stick cooking spray
1 1/4 cup flour
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
1/4 cup cornstarch
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/4 cup sugar
1 cup water
3 egg whites
1/2 cup corn syrup, light or dark
1 confectioners' sugar (opt.)
Directions
Spray 9-inch square pan with cooking spray. In large bowl combine
next seven ingredients. In medium bowl stir sugar and water until
sugar is almost dissolved. Add egg whites and corn syrup; stir until
blended. Gradually add to dry ingredients, stirring until smooth.
Pour into prepared pan. Bake in 350 F oven 35 minutes or until
toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire
rack. If desired, sprinkle with confectioners' sugar.
Each serving provides: 0 g total fat, 0 mg cholesterol, 140 Calories,
2 g protein, 34 g carbohydrate, 160 mg sodium

The main theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you can control the amount of insulin and glucogen (two hormones), then your body releases eicosanoids which, in turn puts your body in a balanced state that is more wholesome than other diets, this is referred to as 'the zone'. Sears alleges that if you get into this 'zone', your metabolism is working at its best and, as a consequence, doesn't build up layers of fat. The main method of the zone system is to control the exact ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to take plenty of Omega 3 and omega 6. |
