Ingredients

1 cup skin milk
2 pitted dates, chopped
1/8 tsp salt
2 tbsp uncooked farina
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp margarine, reduced-calorie
1 sugar substitute to equal 2 tb suga, r
1/8 tsp grd cinnamon
Directions
Combine milk, dates, and salt in a small saucepan; bring to a boil.
Gradually stir in farina and vanilla. Reduce and simmer, stirring
constantly, 2-3 mins or until thickened. Remove from heat; add
margarine and sugar substitute, stirring until margarine melts. Spoon
mixture into a hot serving bowl, and sprinkle with cinnamon. Serve
hot.

Diet informationThe Atkins’ Diet First invented by doctor atkins in the 1960s, the popular atkins diet is still widely used today. Popular with many famous celebrities, it supposedly allows fat reduction whilst still eating many foods that would not be part of a normal diet, for example bacon and cheeses. On the atkins diet it is considered good to eat fat and protein, avoiding carbohydrates almost completely. It is referred to as a low carbohydrate/high protein, nutrition system. With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour. Unlike other diets, with the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish and poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil. The Zone Diet The Zone diet is a diet primarily devised by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an associated web site. The Zone diet is not distinctly a fat reduction diet, but many followers claim that they actually manage to lose weight when following it. The main theory of the Zone Diet is that if you can limit the levels of the hormones 'insulin' and 'glucogen', then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which puts your body in a state of balance that is an awful lot more healthful than other diets, which followers of the diet, refer to as '"he zone". Sears holds the theory that if you get into this 'zone', your body is working at its most efficient and, because of this, doesn't convert energy to unsightly fat. The key technique of the diet is to control the exact ratio of carbs to proteins, and to ensure your diet has high levels of Omega 3 and omega 6. The South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a diet system started by Florida-based cardiologist arthur agatston which encourages that one should consume "good carbs" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Agatston developed his weight loss system for people who have heart disease, as a result of his analysis of scientific research on other dietary studies. Good foods include, veal cutlets, chicken breast, shellfish, parmesan cheese, peanut butter, lowfat or nonfat milk and certain vegetables, like asparagus, lettuce and snow peas. |
