Diet F.c. Apple Betty Recipe brought to you by Diet Recipes To-Go
Weight loss dietsThe Zone Diet The Zone diet is a nutrition system initially invented by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an associated website. The Zone diet isn’t specifically a fat reduction diet, however many zone diet fans claim that they actually manage to lose a few pounds by following this system. The theory behind the Zone Diet is that if one can gain control of the amount of the hormones 'insulin' and 'glucogen', then your body releases eicosanoids which, in turn puts the body in a balanced state which is much more wholesome than usual, known as the 'zone'. Sears believes that a body that is in 'the zone' is working at its most efficient and, because of this, does not need to build up stores of fat. The most important method of the zone system is to control the ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to ensure you get large amounts of Omega 3 and omega 6. The Glycaemic Index Diet The glycaemic index nutrition system is based around the gi index, a list showing food types and a score representing the ease with which the glucose of the food type gets converted to glucose in the dieters body. The claim is that long-acting foods (ie those food types with a low Gi number), suppress your appetite and mean that you can reduce your intake of food without craving snacks all the time. It is also beneficial for folk with diabetes, as the low GI types of food are helpful in reducing surges in blood glucose levels. The Atkins’ Diet Now nearly 5 decades old, the atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systms over the last few years. Popular with many famous celebrities, it allows fat reduction whilst allowing you to eat many foods that are not normally available to dieters, for example lamb and hard cheese. On the atkins diet you are supposed to eat fat and protein, it is the carbs that must be avoided. Because of this, it is known as a low carb/high protein, nutrition and weightloss system. With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour. Unlike other diets, with the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish and, as a result, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a result, olive oil. The Atkins’ Diet Theory The 'science' behind the famous atkins diet is that although our bodies use both fats and carbs to convert into carbs, it is the carbohydrates that are burned initially. If we eat less carbs, our bodies will use our stored fat and we will achieve weight loss. Although inviting, this theory is contentious, not all researchers are in agreement and a few think it is sometimes bad for your health. |
