Types of diet

The Atkins’ Diet
Now nearly 5 decades old, the atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systems over the last few years. Although not accepted by all scientists, it enables weight loss whilst still eating many foods that would not be part of a normal diet, like lamb and butter.
On the atkins diet you eat protein and fat, it is the carbs that must be avoided. Because of this, it is known as a high protein, low carb, nutrition system.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
On the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish and, as a consequence, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a result, olive oil.

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a nutrition system primarily detailed by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an associated web site. The Zone diet isn’t distinctly a weight reduction diet, however some people believe that they actually manage to lose a few pounds by following this system.
The 'science' behind the Zone Diet is that if one can manage to gain control of the secretion of insulin and glucogen (both hormones), then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which, as a result puts one's body in a state of equilibrium that is more healthful than normal, which is known as the zone.
Sears alleges that when in the 'zone', your body is much more efficient and, as a consequence, does not build up layers of fat.
The key method of the zone system is to control the precise ratio of carbs to proteins, and to ensure you get increased amounts of Omega 3 and omega 6.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
