The Glycaemic Index Diet
The gi index diet is reliant on the gi index, a list of foods and a score illustrating the ease that the glucose in the food gets transformed to sugar in your system. The theory is that slow acting types of food (ie with a low Glycaemic index score), will keep you feeling full for longer and mean that you can eat fewer food without feeling you are always hungry. It's also beneficial for sufferers from diabetes, as the low GI types of food are helpful in reducing surges in glucose levels. Flavonoid rich foods (inlcudes garlic, kohlrabi, adzuki bean & tea) The nutrients known as flavonoids discovered in these types of food are believed to be helpful in preventing cancer. Researchers investigating the medical effects of flavonoids think that they may also have numerous benefits to our health, including, but not limited to, anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory capabilities. A good number are low in calories, so should be included in your weight loss regime. |
