Lycopene super foods (includes water melon, red peppers & sweet gourd) The nutrient lypcopene is a natural chemical compound and a member of the same family of phytochemicals as carotene. Lycopene is the reason for the red hue of quite a few fruit and vegetables. Fortunately, unlike many other vitamins, lycopene is not damaged if it is cooked, instead it is in actuality enhanced by cooking. . Its most important value is that it behaves as an antioxidant and appears to help reduce the risks of cancer. It is the most powerful eliminator of singlet oxygen, which is correlated with aging of the skin. It's also thought by nutritionalists to block the growth of diseases affecting arterial blood vessels. |
