Diet information

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet system started by Dr. arthur agatston which stresses that dieters should be eating "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Doctor agatston invented the south beach diet for people who have cardiac problems, as a consequence of his detailed analysis of scientific data on other diets.
"good" foods include, canadian bacon, turkey bacon, shrimp, fat free cheese, pistachios, lowfat yoghurt and certain vegetables, like butter beans, cucumbers and turnips.

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a nutrition and weight loss system first suggested by Barry Sears in a number of books. The Zone diet is not exactly a weight loss diet, nevertheless many zone diet followers claim that they actually manage to lose body weight by following the zone diet.
The science claimed for the Zone Diet is that if one can manage to control the secretion of two important hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then your body releases eicosanoids which, as a result puts your body in a state of equilibrium that is more wholesome than other diets, known as the 'zone'.
Sears holds the theory that if you get into this 'zone', your body is working at its most efficient and, as a consequence, doesn't build up fat.
The most important technique of the diet is to keep tight control over the precise ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to ensure your diet has plenty of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils.

The Atkins’ Diet
Now nearly 5 decades old, the atkins diet achieved most of its fame during the last few years. Although not accepted by all scientists, it allows fat reduction but still allows you to eat foods that are normally considered bad for diets, like lamb and some dairy produce.
Unlike other diets, on the atkins diet you are encouraged to eat meat and fat, it is the carbs that must be avoided. It is often referred to as a low carbohydrate/high protein, nutrition and weight loss system.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
Unlike other diets, on the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are still nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a consequence, olive oil.

The Atkins’ Diet Theory
The logic of the atkins diet is that even though our bodies use both fats and carbs to burn into carbs, it is the carbs that are burned first. If we reduce your intake of carbs, we will consume the fat we have stored and we will achieve weight loss. Although tempting, the atkins diet is divisive, not all researchers concur and many believe it can sometimes be hazardous.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
