Ingredients
1 cup diabetic orange marmalade
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup shortening
2 cup flour
1 egg
1 cup chopped dates
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 cup nuts
1 tsp vanilla
Directions
Mix all ingredients together well. Drop by teaspoon on greased
sheets. Bake 8-10 minutes in a 350oF preheated oven. Makes 36

Weight loss systemsThe Atkins’ Diet Developed by dr. robert atkins in the 1960s, the atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systems over the last few years. Although highly controversial, it enables weight reduction whilst still eating many of the foods you love, for example fatty meat and some dairy produce. With the atkins diet you eat protein and fat, it is carbohydrates that need to be avoided. Because of this, it is known as a low carb/high protein, nutrition and weightloss system. With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour. On the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish and, as a consequence, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a result, olive oil. The Zone Diet The Zone diet is a nutrition system primarily devised by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an associated web site. The Zone diet isn’t distinctly a fat reduction diet, nevertheless many 'zone dieters' discover that they really lose a few pounds when following it. The theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you control the secretion of two key hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which, as a result puts the body in a balanced state that is more healthful than it normally is, which is known as the zone. Sears alleges that if you get into this 'zone', your metabolism is working at its best and, as a result, does not build up fat. The main process of the diet is to monitor and control the ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to ensure you get increased amounts of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils. The South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a weight loss system started by Miami-based cardiologist arthur agatston which emphasizes that dieters should eat "good carbs" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Dr. agatston invented the south beach diet as an aid to patients with heart conditions, based on his detailed analysis of scientific data completed on other weight loss systems. Good foods include, broiled ham, turkey breast, clams, parmesan cheese, pecan halves, lowfat milk and certain vegetables, such as split peas, eggplant and snow peas. |
