Cruciferous vegetables, Healthy superfoods that help with Weight loss (examples: Broccoli, Fresh green beans, Mizuna and Daikon) Altthough not always popular with children, these are rich in vitamins (including vitamin c and folate), minerals (eg. potassium and selenium), fibre, chlorophyll, antioxidents and isothiocyanates. Amongst many health giving properties, the minerals, vitamins and nutrients in these are believed by scientists to significantly lower the risk of getting cancer. The Glycaemic Index Diet The gi (or glycaemic index) weight loss regime is based around the glycaemic index, a list showing types of food and a score illustrating the speed with which the carbohydrates in the food type gets changed to glucose in the dieters blood stream. The theory is that slow acting types of food (ie those foods with a low Gi number), keep you feeling full longer and help to take in fewer food without starving yourself. It is also extremeley useful for sufferers from diabetes, as the low GI types of food are helpful in preventing rises in glucose levels. |
