Diet information

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet created by Cardiologist arthur agatston which emphasizes that dieters should eat "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Dr. agatston invented his weight loss regime for people who have heart disease, as a result of his detailed study of scientific research completed on other weight loss regimes.
"good" foods include, canadian bacon, skinless poultry, fish, low or fat free cheeses, pistachio nuts, lowfat milk and some vegatables, such as black beans, cabbage and mushrooms.

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a diet initially created by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an associated website. The Zone diet is not expressly a fat reduction diet, although many zone diet fans find that they really seem to lose a few pounds by following the zone diet.
The main theory behind the Zone Diet is that if one can limit the amount of the hormones 'insulin' and 'glucogen', then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which, in turn puts the body in a state of equilibrium that is a lot more healthful than other diets, which, not surprisingly, is known as 'the zone'.
Sears states that when in the 'zone', your body is much more efficient and, as a consequence, doesn't need to convert surplus energy to fat.
The main technique of the diet is to maintain the precise ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to make sure your diet has plenty of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils.

The Atkins’ Diet
Developed by dr. robert atkins in the 1960s, the atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systems over the last few years. Although highly controversial, it allows weight reduction whilst allowing you to eat foods that are normally considered bad for diets, eg pork and eggs.
Unlike other diets, on the atkins diet you are encouraged to eat meat and fat, it is the carbs that are on the banned list. It is referred to as a low carb/high protein, diet.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
With the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish and poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil.

The Atkins’ Diet Theory
The controversial theory behind the famous atkins diet is that if we reduce your intake of carbohydrates, our bodies will use up the fat we already carry and we will achieve weight loss

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
