Ingredients
7 oz water packed tuna
1/2 cup mayonnaise, (low-cal 4 me)
1 tsp lemon juice
1/4 tsp curry powder
1/4 tsp prepared horseradish
12 slice white bread* cut in circles (not me, !! whole wheat 4 m
1 softened butter or margarine
Directions
Drain and flake tuna. Combine all ingredients, except bread and butter.
Spread each bread around with butter and tuna mixture. Tops may be
decorated with spring of parsley, bit of pimineto or olive slice. Makes 12
opened faced sandwiches. Food Exchange per serving: 1 STARCH/BREAD EXCHANGE
+ 1 FAT EXCHANGE + 1 LEAN-MEAT EXCHANGE? (whatever 9/16 of a oz which is

Types of dietThe Atkins’ Diet Originating way back in the 1960s, the atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systems over the last few years. Having many well known film stars amongst its supporters, it supposedly allows fat reduction whilst encouraging you to eat many of the foods you love, eg lamb and egg and cheese. With the atkins diet you are encouraged to eat meat and fat, it is carbohydrates that need to be avoided. It is often referred to as a low carbohydrate/high protein, nutrition and weight loss system. With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour. On the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish and poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a consequence, olive oil. The Atkins’ Diet Theory The logic behind the popular atkins diet is that if we eat less carbohydrates, our bodies will utilise our fat and we will reduce weight The Glycaemic Index Diet The gi (or glycaemic index) diet is based around the gi (or glycaemic index), a list of foods and a score representing the ease that the glucose in the food gets converted to glucose in the dieters system. The theory is that slow release types of food (ie those foods with a low Gi score), keep you feeling full longer and help you to reduce your consumption of food without starving yourself. It's also especially beneficial for sufferers from diabetes, as the low GI foods are helpful in managing rises in blood sugar amount. The Zone Diet The Zone diet is a nutrition and weightloss system primarily created by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an associated website. The Zone diet is not particularly a weight reduction diet, but many people believe that they seem to lose weight when following it. The scientific theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you manage to gain control of the secretion of the hormones 'insulin' and 'glucogen', then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which puts the body in a state of equilibrium that is much, much more healthful than normal, which, not surprisingly, is known as 'the zone'. Sears alleges that a body that is in 'the zone' is working at its most efficient and, because of this, doesn't need to build up stores of fat. The key method of the system is to control the precise ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to ensure your diet has large amounts of Omega 3 fish oils. |
