Types of dietThe South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a diet plan created by Dr. arthur agatston which encourages that dieters should be eating "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Agatston invented his dietary regime for people who have cardiac problems, as a result of his detailed study of scientific studies completed on other weight loss regimes. Examples of good foods include, lean beef, turkey bacon, fish and shellfish, provolone cheese, pistachio nuts, lowfat milk and some vegatables, such as lentils, celery and turnips. The Zone Diet The Zone diet is a diet primarily advocated by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an accompanying website. The Zone diet is not expressly a fat reduction diet, although many zone diet followers believe that they really manage to lose weight by following the zone diet. The supposed science behind the Zone Diet is that if one can control the amount of two key hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which, as a result puts your body in a balanced state which is more healthy than usual, known as the 'zone'. Sears states that a body that is in 'the zone' is working at its most efficient and, as a consequence, does not build up layers of fat. The most important method of the diet is to control the precise ratio of carbs to proteins, and to make sure your diet has increased amounts of Omega 3 fish oils. |
