Foods containing allyl sulfides
( includes eschalot, chives and spring onions)

The onion family is rich in allyl sulphides, a chemical which experts believe might be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer.
Although there is precious little real proof at hand, allyl sulfides are also thought by many experts to reduce the symptoms of colds, sterilization and insomnia.

Foods containing allyl sulfides also help you lose weight, so should be included in your weight loss program.

The brassica family, Healthy superfoods that aid Weight loss
(eg. Cauliflower, Green beans, Turnips and Daikon)
Altthough not always popular with children, these are packed with vitamins (including vitamin c and folate), minerals (eg. selenium), fibre, chlorophyll, antioxidents and isothiocyanates.

In addition to their numerous other beneficial effects, some of these nutrients are believed by experts to significantly lower the risk of getting cancer.

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a weight loss regime first suggested by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an associated web site. The Zone diet isn’t exactly a weight reduction diet, nevertheless many 'zone dieters' believe that they manage to lose body weight by following this system.
The scientific theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you can gain control of the levels of insulin and glucogen (two hormones), then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which puts one's body in a state of balance which is much, much more wholesome than normal, known as the 'zone'.
Sears holds the theory that if you get into this 'zone', your body is much more efficient and, as a consequence, does not build up layers of fat.
The most valuable method of the zone system is to maintain the ratio of carbs to proteins, and to dose yourself with high levels of Omega 3 fish oils.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
